Peter Chu notes:

I saw this ad for Phil Wood pedals and was wondering if anyone has used/comments on these. Seller is asking $120 up in Santa Rosa.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ these were on my "must have" list for years, because the design is so elegant: Phil starts with an aluminum extrusion: http://www.classicrendezvous.com/USA/phil_wood_main.htm.

I finally got a pair (came on a bike), and I tried them once. It might have been the shoes I was riding, but I didn't enjoy it. On the other hand, if you have wide feet and want "conventional" shoes to ride with old-style cleats or just plain stiff-soled shoes, I can't think of anything better. Personally, I could not bring myself to pay that much for them, but might have been tempted at half the price. But, since I'm not in the market (having slaked my lust already), perhaps my comments on price say more about me than about any market value.
