Out on group rides I always feel I have to get the shifting silent with a little more care than usual to avoid giving folks the chance to shake heads thinking, "so that's why they did away with that old stuff." Same thing with getting shoes in and out of toe clips smoothly. And if my feet hurt on a long ride, I don't say a thing knowing that someone's going to lecture me on the wonders of clipless.
