Marc: I saw your post and would offer the following comments. I have a couple track bikes and can relate to your harshness comments. That being said, I would be very careful about swapping forks from your original track fork to a road fork. Doing so may fairly radically alter the steering and overall geometry of the bike. Most track forks/bikes come with forks that have relatively short fork blades....whereas a comparable Raleigh steel road fork is probably much longer. You may find that the swap ends up leaving you with a higher front end. If its a bike you really like and intend to keep, I'd consult a frame builder who could advise you as to what options are available and what that will do for the bike. For example, you might be able to have a fork built that inceases the rake while preserving the blade length and effectively lengthens the wheelbase. I'd mess around with different h-bars, stem heights/lengths before doing a fork switch.

I have a fork from a raleigh international with the steer tube length and I was wondering if I swith out the forks will this have any difference in the harshness of the ride?
any info would be appreciated.
