And if one is contemplating the Rally derailleur one must also ask the question, "Which version?" Because there were two main variations (possibly more?) The one with the inset (allen) bolts is the one to have. The other version, with standard bolts, is to be avoided. At least that's what Campy experts have told me. I believe somebody on the list bought a lot of the latter version at one time and greatly regretted it.
I recall too that the CR archives contain posts on the Rally subject, which I thoroughly investigated when contemplating how to outfit a classic tourer. One of the posts lists the top five touring derailleurs of the day, and the Rally came in fifth. I believe Suntour and Shimano each had two models above it, in the poster's opinion. Or something like that. Still, not bad.
