I'm not familiar with "e-snipe" specifically, but the term "snipe" in the context of eBay means using an automated program of some kind to place your bid in the final seconds before the auction closes. In that way you limit other bidders' ability to outbid you, and improve your chances of winning the item at a price lower than your maximum bid.

FWIW, I use a perl script for this: http://ebayagent.sourceforge.net

eBay has a tendancy to change without notice the manner in which their bidding interface presents itself, which frequently breaks many of the snipe programs out there. The CVS version of eBayAgent is working fine for me at the moment.
