hi robert,

the way i see it, there's four ways most people on the list go with when it comes to outing something they have seen on ebay, and the "etiquette" applied depends on the circumstances:

1. they aren't interested in buying, but they think somebody else on the list might be, so they out the item ("too bad it's not my size" or "good thing it's not my size")

2. same as above but they further think there's something wrong, questionable or unusual about the bike, so they out it and ask others for comments ("nice bike but are bow-tie decals are correct for a 3rd quater MC136" or "doesn't the fork look like it's too close to the downtube?")

3. they are sort of interested, but not sure and they could use some feedback or reassurance, and they ask for opinions (this masi really looks nice, i wonder what it'll go for")

4. they are interested, they will definitely bid, they have no intention of outing it to the list, they hope to hell nobody else does, and they groan audibly when somebody almost always does.

i've in all four of these situations. and in the end it all evens out.

welcome to the list.
