The Wilier Triestina on ebay was offered to me by the owner a few months ago. (Please note that the ebay seller is not the owner! As has been shown previously on other bikes that he has offered, Ssspeedster is simply working as a freelance seller. He offers it for sale and if it reaches a reasonable price, he will then buy it from the true owner.) The owner wanted 1500 euros, which IMO is more than the bike was worth at the time (the euro has since dropped by close to 10%). The owner told me the story of the bike being a team bike, to which I told him that that seemed very unlikely (for exactly the reasons that Aldo stated earlier). When I told him this, I suggested that he get confirmation of team status before repeating the statement to others. Apparently he didn't care.
As far as the suggestion put forth by Victor that the finish is cromovellato (veiled chrome), I am virtually certain that this is not the case. Most of the Wilier Triestina bikes that I have seen are 'ramato', which is actually a very durable finish. One of my long-time Italian friends is married into the Dal Molin family that owned the Wilier brand and at home has a few original team bikes from the 40's and 50's. These bikes are among the nicest ones that I have ever seen, with fully matching, Wilier-branded componentry.
