In my earlier post, I suggested including Schroder and Bazani (I really meant Banani - see below) in the "Benelux" theme for the Cirque. Both marques are from Denmark. I have since been advised by a very nice CR list member in Rotterdam, Netherlands that Benelux refers to Belgium, Netherlands and Luxemburg (DOH! pretty logical when you think about it), and not to Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, etc. I still stand by my proposal (and I think I was the one that suggested it initially), that the theme for Cirque '06 be "bikes from that region". The region to include Denmark, Switzerland, etc., etc. Maybe Germany as well. I just think that it's a great opportunity for marques from areas that are out of the more mainstream CR consciousness to get some recognition and exposure. Bring out those Allegros, Mondias, Rickerts and all the other interesting stuff, whether from true "Benelux" countries or not.
Also in my earlier post I referred to my visit to two shops in Copenhagen. I mistakenly described one as Bazani, when I meant Banani. I'm still missing some of the pictures from Banani, but I've posted what I could find from both Banani and Schroder on the Wool Jersey site. One of my favorite things to do (hey, I know I'm not alone here) while traveling is to look for bike shops. I've done it all over the world. I'm continually amazed and pleased at how willing bike geeks are to talk with and entertain other bike geeks, when given a chance. Few have been as overly accommodating as Schroder and Banani. I did have a Danish friend with me to interpret, which got me a lot farther than my wanderings in other parts of the world where I haven't had a similar advantage. Pinarello (where I had a similar advantage - better even, since I was with a long-time friend of the Pinarello family) and Elliott Bay Bicycles in Seattle (where I needed no extra advantage) are two that come to mind.
Enjoy!
