The rim I thought was 40 holes has a vintage bikeshop price tag on it that says "Lightweight" (that part is true) and "36 holes" (also true) and "$11.00" (that part's not true, I paid more than that for it, NOS 25+ years later). So call off the search for a 40 hole hub, thanks anyway.
