I'd just add that here in SoCal it is important to "solution" the sidewalls of tubulars once in a while to keep them from drying out and deteriorating really fast. Here in LA when the Santanas* blow the humidity will get down to 4 to 7%; that and the endless sunny days really dry out sewup sidewalls! A little distilled water mixed in with the latex solution, applied with an "acid" brush, dusted with talc after it dries to cut the stickiness, and you're good to go!

Does that work for brake lever hoods too? Or is that kind of rubberized material not appropriate for a latex solution?
