i've never had a problem with simple green and discoloration, but i never soak the parts, i just spay and scrub with a toothbrush, and then rinse with water. i'm thinking now that a good rinse is probably a very good idea, otherwise discoloration or spotting could occur even without soaking.
But what kind of toothbrush is best? OK, just kidding. Actually I was scrubbing the little triangular cutouts in the rear brake bridge reinforcements with a toothbrush and Simple Green, when it occurred to me that I might be able to really get into those tight areas if I used one of my kids' toothbrushes.
There's a moment in the movie "Thelma and Louise" when Thelma (or is it Louise?) says to her friend something like "I've done crossed over some kind of line, and I can't go back." Sitting on the porch, contemplating stealing my daughter's toothbrush to clean my Masi, I knew what she meant.
