I received so many responses to my offer of a free crank arm, so many list members who obviously needed the piece to complete a set, that it got me to thinking....I know I have other orphans in my stash....stuff that I will never hope to match or complete just by serendipity....so much stuff that I will never use, so much stuff that might find it's way to a bike swap meet, only to make the sad trip back home, back to the shelf at the end of the day. I wish I had ten or fifteen more orphan crank arms to send to the list members who need them to complete a set.
So, my plan is to start sorting through my stuff, and when I find orphans or other stuff that might help someone with a bicycle needing a little benevolence, stuff for which I no longer have a need, I'll offer it to the list, and maybe my offering will, in some small way, help complete a project. I'm talking about those bits and pieces, odd parts, whatever, that we all, at one time or another, need. It is a small way of re-paying all the help others have given me over the years, help I could never fully repay.
I'm not trying to give away my complete stash.....I'll continue to sell at swap meets and maybe, some day, to the list, because I still need to pay for my addiction..........
