Subject: [CR]question about anodized parts

Does anyone know when anodizing of components started? The first that I recall being common were the Dura Ace black components, but then I wasn't paying that much attention in those days, and probably not paying that much attention these days, but more because I can't remember anything now.

I just received a set of wheels with gold anodized Chater Lea hubs, 40-32. The gold, I would think, is anachronistic, or an after market or an attempt to "modernize" them. I do recall have a set of Pelissier hubs that were gold, but they were from the era of the Dura Ace black hubs in the seventies.

Thank you for any information.

Cheers.
