I've been re-spacing numerous Campy rear hubs to 126 mm and now have a few questions. I've searched the archives to no avail. When did Campy change the cone dimensions? The newer ones are a little longer with all the additional length in the radius where the bearing makes contact. Did the races change accordingly to accommodate the cone change? If so most importantly, are newer cones compatible with older races and vice versa. I assume this change was made simultaneous to the introduction of black axles and 2 black 1mm washers replacing two silver washers, one thin and one thick). Sometime between 1978 and 1982? Also, when did Campy begin noting the freewheel threading on the hub? A little earlier, perhaps?
Thanks in advance to all helpful responders.
