Subject: [CR]Don't put shellacked bars in a hot trunk! RATS!

Some of you maybe saw the last pretty photo of my newly shellacked handlebars. (http://outyourbackdoor.com/Images/para.twine.DSCN3048.JPG)

I applied it in the humid heat, let it dry in the hot sun, but when I put my bike in the trunk, an hour later it came out with bars that looked like frickin shriveled prunes.

RATS!

They had softened and become pocked and low-lustre and rough-texture...

Any way to fix em? I'm presently attempting to add another couple coats, to see if that helps. First new coat doesn't look that promising upon completion. I'm hoping they 'merge' with the old coats and fill in the pucker/wrinkle jive.

Rats, the bikelist.org archives are down presently, otherwise I'd be searching for shellac-rescue remedies.

Anyone have any tips? --
