So, what does the headtube decal that you do have, look like? I think that there are not two "El" models -- my bike has "El Camino Real" on the chainstays, and "El Dorado" in small script on the seattube decals. By the way, I paid almost nothing for my virtually-NOS, 600-equipped, El Camino. I sold the parts for as much as I paid for the bike.

My El Camino Real has

-- large fluted seatstay caps -- no BB cut-out; under-BB cable guides -- no lug cut-outs, basic lugs, clean, but not feathered -- chrome fork, sloping crown, kind'a sloppy crown treatment, cut-out on outside fork tang, no inside fork tang -- head tube pump peg -- rear brake bridge has kind of a square block that the brake bolt passes through; rear brake bridge has tangs on each seatstay, with cut-outs below the bridge

By the way, this undistinguished frame built into one of the sweetest riding bikes I've ever been on. Lively rear end; SL-feel (I'm told it's Prestige, but I don't have any proof); neutral, pleasant handling. Nice ride.

I have an opportunity to buy a bike that is supposed to be a Medici, however, the only part on the bike identifying it as a Medici is the pantographed stem. The lugs have no cut outs, braze ons include t.t. housing guides, shifter, front derailleur, and there are no decals except for a decal on the head tube which is unfamiliar to me. After spending half an hour in the archives searching for info, I am guessing that the frame might be an El Dorado or an El Camino. However, with all the posts on Medici, I didn't find any definitive info on DATES. In the 1980's, what Medici models were made and what were the dates?

I found this post by Peter Bridge, but no response by anyone to his info:

I was surprised by the headtube/seattube decal -- in place of the expected

lion rampant, is a shield outline, with a ringing bell, and the golden hills

of California in the background. As many of you will know, the Camino Real

(Royal Road) was the route the Spanish missionaries established in

California, with missions spaced a one day walk apart. I assume that the ringing bell

refers to those missions.

Can anyone offer any more info? Off list is okay, too.

Who's in charge of adding information to the C.R. main about Medici? There ain't no info, currently.
