Glad it worked out, Doug. Actually to be correct, the Zeus would have taken a 38T, or maybe even 36T, the problem is finding one. Zeus rings 40T and under are usually tightly hoarded. Stronglight 93 38T rings, on the other hand, are still being made. And of course the number of Stronglight rings made in the classic era was many times that of Zeus, plus the Zeus 120mm circle doesn't match amything else. So I now have a 70's Gitane touring bike sitting with no crank, as the Zeus just doesn't seem right for it, absolutely beautiful though this crank is. When I get back to Houston, I'll dig a Stronglight 93, or maybe a mod 99 out of my stash for the Gitane.

Regards,

Jerry Moos

Thanks to all who contributed info and advise a while back about my question regarding Zeus chainrings. After some thought and measuring, I traded the Zeus for a beautiful Stronglight '93 (thanks, Jerry!) with smaller rings than the Zeus would take. We just returned from a wonderful week of cycling in the Niagara Penninsula. Cheri loves her "new"'80 basso mixte with the wider gear range. While we were there, my pal Sandy and I went for a 90K 'Old guys Raleigh ride" along the lakes and canals. His 25" Raleigh Pro and my 25" Comp GS were each older than most of the other cyclists we encountered!
