The guy may be a scammer (or someone may have spoofed his identity in your second-chance offer) but as to legitimacy of this particular auciton, I can vouch for the fact that Mougulpal did indeed purchase a red 52cm Gran Criter ium frame, #D8033 on eBay in Feb 2005 for $496. And he has evidently put quit e a bit of time and effort into restoring it (and it's quite possible that the N OS #5267 Gran Crit with Campy 50th group, which less than five weeks earlier ha d sold for $4101, may have inspired him to embark on this project).
At any rate, I'd say the odds are good that this is a legitimate auction.
