There is some guy selling Rudy Project glasses that when he doesn't get what he wants for them, he gets a friend to out bid you at the last minute. He starts the auction low, $9.99, but will not let them go for less then $80. He ended up having friends run up the bids in the first day to $80, waiting for a real bidder to come in. How can I tell their his friends, because all the other bids are shown as 'Private Bidder' for there user name. So you can't ever look there status up. He's had them up for months trying to get his price.

On this topic of Ebay scams, I received a second chance offer within about ten minutes of coming in second on an auction. The length of time between the close of the auction and the seller contacting the "winner" and that person not paying seemed a bit short, to say the least. When I checked the winner, I looked at his past auctions. All of them had been on the current seller's auctions.
After discovering that, I did not respond to the second chance offer. The item, a Stronglight crankset, appeared several more times, not selling, the n finally sold for about the same amount that I had bid.
