Buon Giorno, ciclisti.
I have a need for some nice "as close to NOS but don't need to pay for that level" of gen-you-whine Campagnolo TRACK chainring bolts. Please respond if you have some for sale or can suggest where I can find some.
I've all but given up finding my long lost lovely early 70's Paramount ( a 26" c-t size, yep they built 'em that big) and recently was honored with the ownership of a lovely (and even bigger) Ed Litton track bike frame made for another big ole galoot, (my pal Bobby Wally). I've cobbled it together and ridden it a couple times over at Hellyer ( it's a 4 hour drive to get there. I even won an omnium, but there were only two cat.5's...still!)
I suppose I will be wrong again ( I was wrong about Hip-hop music for similar reasons I suspect) but the recent price run-up in on-topic track bikes and parts etc by the "fixie" crowd has me dismayed. Lord knows all I wanted was a nice set of large flange track hubs and now what do we see? Ebay is a total delight with road cranks, road hubs, road wheels, road frames all described as "Pista"; none of which ever saw a banked highway, let alone a velodrome. Ahhh, isn't that the way. I wait till the market peaks and then decide to get interested. Hopefully that crowd will all move on to restored nose piercing jewelry in a few years and prices will come down.
I am keeping nothing that I can't really forseably use. This track bike restoration is a direct consequence of hanging around C-R. That, and as Ted E and Hector ( He's in Reno now, Ted) and all others in the Pantheon of trackie superstardom will tell you: There ain't nuthin' like riding and diving on the banking. Jam on, Ted!
Thanks for making it through my morning caffienated ramble.
