Subject: [CR]Confusion regarding M.Steel Cycles and Dave Yates

>From the Dave Yates web site:

"... he set up M Steel Cycles with Geoff Dobson and Joe Waugh in 1980. In 2005, after 25 years with the company and having produced over 11,500 frames, Dave left M Steel Cycles (and his beloved North East!) to set up Dave Yates Cycles & Engineering in Lincolnshire. Dave now runs his framebuilding and light engineering business from a smallholding near RAF Coningsby ..."

I *think* that the 1894 date is for the *shop* M Steel Cycles, and that the frame building portion of that company (M Steel Lightweight Cycles) began in 1980, merged with the shop in 1981, and apparently is now separated since Dave Yates moved in June of 2005 and set up shop in the country in Lincolnshire.

As someone said, it sure is interesting to see how framebuilders move around.

The link on the cited url for M Steel Cycles to Dave Yates Cycles is an external link, even though Dave Yates bio, photo etc still remain on that site.

My Super Randonneur was made in 2001, and therefore from the M Steel Lightweight Cycles era.
