I have been informed off-list that Stella Venata is the correct builder. Ciao, Angel Garcia Verona, Italy

I saw a very pretty bike today with unusual lugs that caught my eye. The decals were gone but the head badge said Stella Veneto (or possibly Stella Veneta: I WILL CARRY MY CAMERA FROM NOW ON). The chromed headlugs, on the front, had long points coming to the center.

The owner, an older gentleman, was quite nice. He told me about riding his Stucci with Cambio Corsa on a 3 day trip through Dolomites. He said shiftin g could be dangerous. This is the same gentleman that will introduce me to someone that knew Mario Confente here in Verona (see separate note).

Ciao,

Angel Garcia Verona, Italy

Ted Ernst mentioned that he once carried these makes: Paramount, Durkopp, Diamant, Umberto Dei, Stella d'Italia, Bauer, Express, Gold Rad, Automoto, Leon Rapide, Urago, Helyette, Peugeot, Rabeneick, Fiorelli, Rickert, Olmo, Bianchi, Legnano, Raleigh, Carlton, etc.,

I like to see lists like this because it helps me fill in gaps for the Used Bike Buyers Guide. In this case, there were several makes that I did not have in the guide. The one that jumped out at me was Stella d'Italia. I show a Stella from France. But, this is the second reference I've seen to a Stella in Italy. Does anyone know whether there were two different companies or two branches of the same company? Lou Deeter, Orlando FL
