Subject: [CR]FW: Nice Peugeot Avoriaz 50c-c touring bike

I've made some recent acquisitions in better sizes for my wife, so I'm thinning out her other bikes.

First up is a nice 80's steel Peugeot Avoriaz in metallic white, with nice French alloy parts. This was an upper mid-line tourer. Would make a great touring or commuter bike. 50c-c seat tube, 52c-c top tube, 23 lbs. Xlnt cond. throughout, with low miles. $150, updgraded parts available for slightly extra. I would prefer paypal.

Note: This bike appears to be ENGLISH (has 22.2mm stem, but BB is unmarked, so I'll have to disassemble it to confirm the HS & BB threadings). Peugeot changed over to English thread on a lot of their bikes in the 80's.

40.25-41.25 / 102.25-104.75c wb, 16.25-17.25 / 41.25-43.75c cs, 28.75c / 11-3/8" BB height with 27" wheels and 32c tires, and the wheel all the way forward in the drops (taller BB setting). Peugeot HLE tubing, inexternal type brazing, forged Simplex long horizontal drops with adjusters, oval/round chainstays. External lugged round/oval sloping crown fork. Well maintainted. 27 x 1-1/4 alloy double wall HP wheels, with short reach Weinman 610 cp's. Shimano long cage drive, 6spd, 126 spacing, recent Conti Top Touring 32c tires. Everything true, smooth, round and tuned. I've ridden it a bit, and it has great ride and handling.

Oversize eyelets for racks, and fits fenders with the 610's and 32c tires. Should fit 38c, and appears would even fit 42c in 27". Fits 700c with the existing brakes (tested). Very nice CTA alloy stem, engraved bar, and fluted alloy Stronglight seatpost. Original white Benotto bar tape in excellent condition. 2 sets of bottle bosses, top tube cable guides, and chain pin. Excellent paint and decals. A couple of minor scratches which I will touch up with metallic white if you want (came from falling against stuff in the garage in the Northridge earthquake, but bike has never been crashed). Nervar cotterless alloy double crank (170) in English 9/16, and Lyotard alloy sealed quill pedals.

The price is with the current build - Shimano, stem shifters, and Weinmann safety levers (button type QR's). For slightly more, I've got a box full of various nice parts of your choice I'll install, and I'll throw in some toe clips and straps, and maybe an AFA French chrome steel umbrella pump clip, if needed. Parts upgrades would include clamp on DT shifters, nicer brakes and levers, and possibly other deraileurs. I've got 610 999 Vainquer cp's with Matthauser, several types of Weinmann side pulls, others; Weinmann drilled non-safety levers, and/or Shimano 600 levers/shifters/d's, Huret shifters/d's or Suntour retrofriction / V-GT Luxe, I may have a 6 spd wide range freewheel too, Etc. I also have some nice Japanese 700c wheels I could put on there. E-mail me off-list if interested.
