a good friend of mine is looking for a lugged steel touring frame, and has taken a liking to the new mercian touring frames. he rode a early 70s mercian converted to a single speed, and liked it as well. the new ones are, however, a little too expensive for his budget. he is going to india and tibet for at least a year, and several months of that will be a bike tour through northern india.
if anybody has a mercian touring frame and fork in the 57 - 59, either vintage or KOF status, lying around that they would be looking to sell for around (or preferrably under) $400, please reply off list. as long as it doesn't require any major work, it's an option. any paintwork condition or some pitting is acceptable, provided that there is not an extreme amount of rust or damage. eyelets for racks/fenders needed.
