Subject: [CR]Tubular help (since we are talking about them...)

Howdy folks.

I have a pair of not yet glued Vittoria Special Pave tubulars, the fat ones, that I got a great deal on a couple years ago. Somehow, while just sitting around my den, one of them no longer holds air and it seems to me like it might be leaking at the valve base. These were expensive tires, the handmade ones. I am not sure what to do as I don't want to ruin the tire but it isn't useable as it sits.

Also, do you folks who run tubulars just have a big stockpile of tires or do you somehow manage to not get flats? I have read and been told that they are more flat resistant, but I get SO many flats that even factoring that in I will end up with a bunch of flats per year. I am getting ready to put together several bikes that will only have tubular wheelsets, so I am going to have to stop avoiding the tubulars soon. Thanks!
