Vitus frames, at least many of them, are On Topic, since they appeared before 1983. Along with ALAN, they were the most prominent aluminum frames in the late 70's/ early 80's era. Both the Vitus and ALAN frames continued with little change beyond the 1983 CR cutoff. Vitus frames were also sold marked as Motobecane, Peugeot and other French brands, just as several Italian marques marketed ALAN frames. Both Vitus and ALAN frames were also sold with carbon fibre reinforced maintubes, although I'm no sure if these carbon versions came out early enough the beat the 1983 cutoff.

Located on the poor end of the college hip district, it's a little brother and sister owned shop dealing almost totally in second hand bikes, parts, and repairs.

Picked up a few more gems to spend the weekend cleaning and reconditioning in the hopes of finding a nice frame at Westchester, I ran across a Stronglight cottered crank set (been doing a lot of that lately, as I've got definite ideas of how I want my next bike equipped, just haven't figured out what frame it's going to be based on). Can someone in the group possibly give me a bit of information on this crank: When was it made, what manufucturers used it, period correctness, etc.?

Also (probably off-topic), if anyone's got a familiarity with what appear to be an aluminum-ish frame marked Vitus tubing, please contact me off list. I've got a couple of questions for you.
