Last year a bunch of you on the list gave me suggestions for vintage rentals down in New Orleans (and I've got the nice pics of that 72 Raleigh Pro on top of the levee bike path on my website). The Hurricane came by weeks after I was there (for a computer nerd conference). This week I was so suprised to get an invite for a repeat of this same conference, IN New Orleans ! And, although I was on the fence about wanting to return to this event, part of me felt it'd be great to do my part in spending some cash in the recovering city.

So then I got to wondering about the bike shop... and just now I hung up with Michael down at Bicycle Michaels (bit 'below' the French Quarter) - and they are open, and doing just FINE. He said that after the hurricane there has actually been a resurgence in bike business, with a new bunch of folks totally sold on pedal power as a GREAT transportation method around town. Oh..and he's got the Raleigh Pro waiting for me !!!

over and out... and leavin soon to ride my 30lb 'touring' bike tomorrow in that San Diego 200k with some of the boyz !
