Depends which CLB's you mean. I have a couple of pairs of CLB "self-energizing" CP's. These are very nice, but I think late 70's or early 80's. I also have a number of CLB Racer CP's that I got in a large lot of miscellaneous parts. Almost all the calipers were broken, usually just below the cable attachment. This seem to be a pretty poor quality copy of MAFAC, and were probably around in 1971. The CR site has some CLB CP's similar to my Racers, but highly polished, and which at least appear to be better quality. The CR site also shows some 50's CLB sidepulls which seem pretty nice, but I'm not sure they were still available in 1971. So CLB seems to have run the gamet from very nice to pretty bad.

Jubilee, TA chainset.... but were they contemporary to 1971/2? T he nice ones I've seen I think date to the middle of the decade rather than the beginning. These have a neat little CLB logo in the middle of the anchor

bolt.

It was my assumption that when weight mattered for TT oriented machines, sidepulls won out on centerpulls with Weinmann 500 and Universal 68 being about equal in weight.

It is SO much more work when one shys away from the ubiquitous Campy NR Gruppo! But this one will, at least, have a Campy seatpost and hubs...
