A report.

Note to Mr. Parker, no parking fee was charged.

I got there politely early at 7:15am, paid my entry and walked right in. Should have been there even earlier as a seller just inside the entrance to the velodrome had astounding deals, A few wash tub sized containers marked $10 to $30 for the lot including the tub, wheels for $10 each. Only saw the end of the transaction but it appeared that the $180 spent was about 10 cents on the dollar. At this booth I bought some ugly NOS green Vittoria tubulars for spare use, a NOS Mavic GP4 rim and a 32° Record front wheel, at prices that meet and beat New York prices.

There were not many sellers, some bike shops for sure, the local Phillipine Used Bike Syndicate had a representation, they search various venues around town and offer them on ebay often, probably a few of you have dealt with them. No deals there, but perhaps Mr. Fellows was able to obtain that red Viner track bike.

The goods overall was a mixture of new, track & vintage. Saw a Fuso, Eddy Merckx framesets that were used, presentable and too big. a Repainted Rickert track was an interesting deal, bike with four extra sets of wheels, including a NOS set of 28° hubs , extra chains lots of rings and cogs all Dura -Ace Ten Pitch at $1000., no takers when I left.

Bumped into Jay Van De Velde, as he was searching with empty arms. We expected to see Chuck Schmidt, perhaps he was outside catching deals prior to entry into the building... Mr. Gorski I was informed was steamrolling San Diego, perhaps with Mr. Baylis.

As I was looking at a Rebour Ideale saddle (unsold at $110.) at one of the few individual sellers, I got this feeling that the voice and mannerisms of the seller were familiar. Could not place him, directly, but thought it was from my Long Beach days. On the way home I realized it was a professor from a class I had take 20 years ago, introduction to 3 dimensional design. Memory works, just not fast enough.

I was out within an hour, as I avoided the new stuff. The fee was probably too stiff for the typical non commercial sellers. I would have liked to have moved right to the infield and taken the certification class to ride the track, but I had a planned outing with my children, destination Santa Barbara Zoo.
