A quick thank you to Duncan Granger for reminding me about the Swap in Westminster this Sunday.

I have two bikes that I would like to sell but I have little desire to take them apart and pack them up; therefore, I am hoping to find a CR listmember that would be interested in purchasing them directly at Westminster.

The first bike is the Bussandri that is shown in photos 1 through 18. The Bussandri is from approximately 1953-55 and apart from the normal wear parts (saddle, toe straps, cable housing, tubulars...), has all period correct components. It measures 54.5 cm C/C with a top tube of 55 cm C/C. The heavily faded decals all appear to be original, however, as you can see in photo 16, it would seem that they are the only areas that maintain the original paint. It would appear that somebody has masked the decals off and painted around them, thereafter putting a thick clearcoat. The bike comes with Campagnolo Gran Sport derailleurs front and rear, with the rear one being the one with the thin flange at the lower pivot. The shift levers are the highly sought after bar end commands that are marked Gran Sport (these generally sell for $300-500 per pair on their own on ebay). The handlebars are Ambrosio Champion which is fitted to an adjustable Ambrosio stem. I was under the impression that these were mainly used for track bikes but a few Italian oldtimers tell me that they were also used on road bikes. The brakes are Universal Mod.51. The hubs are Campagnolo Gran Sport, obviously with the open 'C' skewers. The pedals are the wide version of Sheffield sprint. The cranks are 170 mm Magistroni, with Simplex chainring adaptors. The saddle is a newer Brooks. Oddly enough, the top cup of the headset is marked Torpado. I would like $800 for this bike if delivered to Westminster.

The second bike is actually a traditional racing frame fitted with a Holdsworth trike conversion kit and is shown in photos 37 through 53. This has been my winter bike for the last couple of years and is most definitely not a wall hanger. This is a rider. It is a real mix of old and new, with parts from the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and even this century. The main frame is a mid-80's SLX tubed Morello from Padova. It measures 55.5 cm C/C by 56 cm C/C top tube. The frame was originally built up with a Campagnolo 50th anniversary gruppo and is in reasonable overall condition. I will also include the matching fork that was originally fitted to this frame. The 2003 fork that is fitted was built specifically for tricycle use and has the braze-ons for fitting a disc brake. This is important on a trike as you will appreciate having two brakes on them. The disc is a 2003 Avid that is made for drop bar levers. It works very well, even if perhaps having a bit too light a feel for my own liking. The second brake is a mid range 1980's Modolo. The brake levers are 80's Campagnolo Gran Sport that are fitted to 90's ITM bars and stem covered with Bike Line leather wrap. The bars, levers and hoods and wrap are all in very good shape. The headset is a 2002 Ritchey Logic model. The modern Selle San Marco saddle is fitted to a long modern Kalloy seatpst (I believe 230 mm long!) The extra length comes in handy on a trike as it is often advantageous to have extra top tube clearance when you are hanging way out on corners. The cranks are 70's Campagnolo Record fitted to an 80's titanium Phil Wood BB and are outfitted with 70's Cinelli M71 pedals (They actually make sense on a trike as long as you don't tip over on a hill in Maryland WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE). One of the pedals is missing a pedal cap. The front derailleur is a braze-on 80's Campagnolo Record fitted with a 60's old flat outer plate cage. The rear derailleur is a 90's Shimano 105. The chain is a brand new Regina. The rear tricycle conversion kit is a 50's Holdsworth model. This could actually be removed quite easily from this frame and reinstalled on another frame if you so desired to. The whole conversion kit has matching serial numbers. At present there is a 4-cog freewheel fitted but I would guess that you could perhaps also fit a 5 block if you so desired. The hubs are the original Holdsworth ones and are built up with 3 matching modern hard anodized WTB rims. I would like to receive $800 for the trike with extra fork. I can assure you that this is far less than what I have spent in building it up.

For those thinking about parting either of these out, I will bear you no ill-will if you were to do so. The trike conversion kit could theoretically be dismantled to permit it to fit into a UPS OS2 sized box.
