The method which is less likely to bend the cover is to find a socket from a socket set that fits the opening snugly and insert it to lever the cap out of position with a rocking motion. The screw driver method works too, but I tend not to use it on metal covers, only on plastic covers or cheap hubs I don't care about! :-P
