Not quite $300 yet - $292. I agree, this frame will require full restoration. Actually, I was going to bid on this to restore, until it went over $200. $300 is a bit much for me. It's well known I'm not a huge fan of Italian bikes in general. I do like Legnano, however, if nothing else because it didn't adhere to the Italian "formula". The unique seatbinder and the unique rear brake hanger which resulted from that seatbinder are the mark of a marque (excuse the pun) which definitely went "its own way". Add to that the mystic of Bartali (my favorite Italian racer) and of Coppi in his early professional days, and the attraction of Legnano is powerful for me, though not as powerful as to the current high bidder.

I will confess, however, that the Legnano lugs, for example, look more like plumbing fixtures than works of art, but the cool headbadge covers a multitude of sins.

I am wondering why such a rough frame is going to go for $300 plus. To my way of thinking this bike requires an expensive restoration and the parts will cost plenty. Hunting down the parts for an early 60's Campagnolo equipped bike is tough today, that is why you see all these stripped frames.

I'll also add that over time these Legnanos just look rough to me. I have always liked the comparable (eventual sister line) Frejus frames in comparison but the Legnanos have no elegance at all. Great head badge however.
