Hi Ken,

The shoes aren't intended for cleats or other means of attaching them to the pedals, since they're traditional English cycle touring shoes, intended for comfortable walking as well as riding, and cleats and the like would defeat their purpose. Also, they're much more robust than racing shoes (and, consequently, heavier). They have thick leather soles, which have a protective rubber outer sole for grip, extended wear, and ease of repair. I have no connection with Reynolds, by the way, other than as a satisfied customer!
