Maybe I signed my death warrant a while back, but I have a distinct preference for MEK (methyl ethyl ketone) as a parts cleaner. That stuff strips the grease off of anything, and mummifies my hands in no time. I've used this for years working on 2 stroke race engines, which gunk up with totally heinous greases and half carmelized oils in no time.
I keep 2 cups of the stuff in a glass jar with a steel lid and put my chains in there to clean them with a couple of shakes, or swab out headsets, bottom brackets, whatever needs to be totally degreased. I't doesn't smell too great, so I am not inclined to huff it (unlike lacquer thinner).
This stuff is not paint friendly though...
