Aldo, Back in the 70's, my wife owned a Lambretta motor scooter...a competitor of Vespa with the spare tire mounted on the right rear under the nacile to counterbalance the off-set engine, instead of on the back like on the Vespa. It was a 120CC, I think, highway legal if one were so foolishly inclined. It was a great vehicle to "motor-pace" behind because it could go forever at 20-25mph without stalling or shifting up and down, and the wide rear nacile gave a great draft. She later sold it to a fellow from Cincy who wanted to use it for the same purpose. With gas so expensive, I wish I still had it! Perhaps the use of Vespas in the Roma/Napoli/Roma was a promo, like the use of those underpowered scooters in the TdF a few years ago? Her Lambretta could leave them in the dust!
