The link above will take you to pictures of the transformation of a Cuevas. Mark Poore bought this frame at the Cirque 2005 Charity Auction, traded it to me, and then Jonathan Greene took over the refinishing project. If you start in the middle of the pictures, you will see the original frame, then the chemical stripping, followed by primer, dent repair, and then at the top, the final painted frame with decals. The paint is Imron. Fernando Cuevas provided the decals. The Cuevas crest decals in particular were very old and brittle, requiring multiple attempts before getting it right. At the very bottom, you can see too dim pictures of a Cuevas I owned 15 years ago and sold to listmember J.D. Edwards of Albuquerque. Although the 'model' has chromed stays and fork, we were trying our best to match the ice blue paint with red in the cutouts that was on that one. It had a very unusual placement of the seattube crest on the back of the seattube so Jonathan replicated that placement.

The frame is now built with mostly Super Record. A guy at my work laser etched a Cinelli stem with the correct font. The culmination of this project was the ride. I rode it twice this weekend. After the Saturday ride, I tweaked the saddle position just a bit and Sunday's ride was perfect. Lou Deeter, Orlando FL
