My Mondia Special were originally lead dipped on the end of the cables, but what set them off were these lovely metal caps with a screw threaded into its side as a way of ensuring a suitable fit rather than the crimping action so much easier to accomplish. I bought an extra 10 of these delightful cable end caps from Spence Wolf some years ago simply as wallhangers as they seemed to embody a kind of picky madness like arts and crafts workmanship.
