WARREN...... i have two usually faithful methods for getting tight fixed cups out . 1.. with the naked frame clean all the crap, paint grease etc away from the outside of cup and fix EDGE tightly in a vice.make sure you are pulling on frame in the same plane as the cup will try to escape[ sharp blows with a ballpein hammer before you begin is a old trick to loosen the thread ]this will usally do the trick but failing that 2.. get a 3/4 '' coarse threaded bolt a real strong one about 4.5 /5 '' long brase or weld a nut about 3/4'' from the end ..get a strong serrated or spring washer and insert this into the shell so that you can tighten another nut with washer so sandwiching the cup.i mean really tighten this up. then fetch a big shifter or air wrench and give it all you have!! i have seen a 4ft bar and a real strong guy having diiffs with these but these were in cheapo mtbs that had been in salt water. if all else fails and in number 2 you will damage the cup anyway weld a bar on to the cup the heat often does the job.. willie carton in a cold Coleraine co. In both cases, the fixed cups will not move for the life of me. Any recommended for loosening these? They are both 7400 series dura ace with 36 mm flats on them. I've blasted them with liquid wrench for the time being.
