Subject: [CR]Chrome clear coat how to?

Greetings,

I picked up a Schwinn Voyageur 11.8 in chrome. The clear coat was pretty scarred up so I started out stripping the fork to see how it would look. I t is still very nice and I am compelled to do the whole thing. I can't resist, it is so shiny. I have been messing around with an air brush and some clear laqueur - auto store house brand. I can see that It is beyond m e and I want to get help.

What is my best course of action? Kind of clear coat to use? Laqueur? Imron? Correct thinner? More than one coat?

Should I let a body shop try to do it, or should I find someone experienced with bike frames? It is obviously a different beast than broad expanses of sheet metal.

If the local rod shops are out, who is good at this that I could take it to nearby or send it to in the US?

I plan to ride it and would like it to be durable.

Thanks for helping a newbie,
