The custom frame makers are truly accomplished artisans and should be supported. MOMA has had exhibits on "the Motorcycle as Art"," 20th century Industrial design" including furniture, coffee makers, toasters, etc. Why not bicycles as art? Keep in mind that because of cost and lack of in-person access to these builders, their market will always be limited. Also, everytime one of the CR list members bids up a Curly Hetchins,Masi,or any classic frame on e-bay, the potential market for a custom frame from the current crop of builders is in part diminished. This kind of frame recycling gives instant gratification, versus a six month or years wait for the modern custom.
