Freek says about Pete Matthews < I have never heard about him since>

Pete is one of the characters of British cycling and if Pete was around every one was aware of him. A born comedian, I am not surprised he is working the clubs in Liverpool.

A member of the Liverpool Mercury, sworn enemies of the Kirkby CC, two Liverpool clubs who supplied many International riders in the 70's.

Pete rode many Milk Races in an England jersey and represented his country on many occasions. He was a great criterium rider.

As mechanic to the GB squad in the 70's I got to know Pete very well and did some work for him when he opened his bike shop.

His forte was wheel building and I am glad to see he is still around, I believe he is also doing some race commentaries. These commentaries should be a laugh a minute if Pete has maintained his old repartee.

Mike (glad to be a friend of Pete's) Mullett
