I live close to the headquarters of the BVVW, not anywhere near Boulder, but I saw this on rec.bicycles.tech and thought some here would be interested:

Join the staff of Vecchios for their first annual RETRO BIKE RIDE, Sunday March 19, 2006. Meet at Vecchios at 9am for complimentary AMANTE coffee. The ride pushes off at 10am. Enjoy an easy & leisurely paced spin on your retro-rig along the foothills of to the Famous Lyon's "Fruit Loops". After another coffee break (sorry, this one is on you), we return to Vecchio's via Hygiene for some apres-ride suds and bench racing. Prizes for most retro bike, garb & Vecchio's scerregio.

So, what's a retro bike? Easy. It's old. Shifters-on-the-downtube-that-don't-click old. Brake-cables-in-the-wind old. Clips-and-straps, ferrous-tubed, hairnets and wool old. Now we're not gonna get too neurotic about this, but if your oldest bike is aluminum (Vitus & Alan excepted) with brake lever mounted shifters and clipless pedals, this ain't the ride for you.

Vecchio's encourages all participants to wear a real, fucntional bike helmet. Do so otherwise AT YOUR OWN RISK! This is a social ride. Leave the machismo on the bench. If you attack, make it stick (and ride alone). All testosterone fueled blow-hards are subject to a group water bottle dowsing upon capture and further public ridicule.

For more info, please give us a call at 303.440.3535 or email, peter@vecchios.com.

NOTE: If weather does not permit a highly enjoyable RETRO BIKE RIDE we will try again on Sunday, March 26, 2006.
