I'm offering this bike to the CR list before attempting Craigslist or eBay.

$500. (It's a fundraiser---to help me stay solvent!)

Here are a few pics: http://outyourbackdoor.com/article.php?id=102 .

And here are some Mark Bulgier catalog scans including this model and year: http://www.bulgier.net/pics/bike/Catalogs/atala/

I think it's a 1985 [revised]. As I measure it, it seems 59.5cm ST by 58.5 TT. It's silver with blue panels and white panel-trim. Chrome fork crown, chain-side chainstay and seat-stay caps. There are quite a few places with pantographing, I think they call it---deeply engraved areas and blue paint.

It has a mix of decent parts on it (Campy Super Record rear der). Overall, it's still sharp---maybe one step down from fine (though I'm no expert). Not many scratches. A few minor mars. A couple spray paint retouches. I would freshen up some of the pantographing just to keep its beauty at a peak.

It comes with decently fresh and suitable clincher wheels, tires. No pedals. Ti-rail Rolls saddle. More details and pics on request. Different parts available, optional, negotiable. (Shipping should be about $40.)

I've ridden it perhaps 12 times in the year or so that I've had it. None in rain or dirt. Maybe 300 miles tops. Carried it once on a car roof-rack---I think to a classic bike ride rally in Detroit. It sure looked pretty up there!

I bought it over a year ago from an iBOB. I'm selling it because I can't afford to have a lovely extra bike around. Right after I bought it I came across a slightly bigger/longer RB1 that fits my needs better---though is not nearly so classy (sigh). The Atala Pro is buttery smooth but sportier than the RB1. I believe it's a Tour de France grade of road-racing frame. The Atala has 75-deg HT and 74-deg ST and really wants to turn, corner, bank. It's certainly the sweetest handling bike I've ever ridden. I wouldn't say it's a crit bike, but it's close---and certainly would be fine in crits. It's not twitchy at all.

Lastly, the icing on the cake: it comes with a "like new" set of official Atala lycra shorts and jersey, as in the photo. Worn a couple times. (OK, maybe they're replicas.) What a classy ride and set-up!

Thanks, JP
