For the straddle wire on the centerpull brakes I used the standard double ended brake cables and simply used the disgard end for the straddle wires and cut off the "fat" part of the lead. Also, for an almost exact match you can cutup a set of Torelli Campagnolo gear cables where the lead end is almost an exact match for the one on the original wires on the Mafac brakes. I suggest the former from a cost point of view...the cable is thicker as well. Thanks for the link to Sheldon Brown's brake pad site. I found an old pair of Shimano studded MTB brake pads...they work but are butt ugly. Thanks again.
