Don & list,

I can't add much light to the manufacture of 116 bcd cranks by Miche, but I own an obviously down-market Gipiemme crankset with 116mm bcd. It appears that many of the Italian component makers felt the need to compete with Campagnolo toe-to-toe, as well as to make equipment that was compatible with Campy. I'm sure this was viewed as an opportunity to supply aftermarket parts, as well as to have an item in the lineup that showed that they could hold their own with the giants.
