I'm not disputing this statement because, based on the experience of literally millions of individuals, it seems to actually be the case. Nevertheless, it has always puzzled me. Is there something special about the force of gravity in the USA and Canada that affects people's shoe sizes? After all, nearly everyone in those 2 countries is an immigrant or descended from immigrants, many from the Mediterranean region. Yet we seem to require wider shoes that our cousins across the seas. (Except for me: I _need_ to buy European shoes to get the proper width.)

Now to be sure I'm on-topic here, let me say the best cycling shoes I ever owned were made by G. Bianchi. They even came with a fabulous sticker that's on the back of my tool cabinet. Anyway, I purchased those from College Park (Maryland) Bicycles in the early 1980s. I wonder if Larry still has some around? Cheers, Fred Rednor - Arlington, Virginia (USA)
