Subject: [CR]bent rear dropout - fatal? please look at linked pics (Duncan Granger)

Hi All,

Today I received a 1960 Frejus mod. Tour de France that I recently purchased. The drive-side rear dropout, unfortunately, was bent during shipping.

I would appreciate if those of you who are knowledgeable about framebuilding and repairs would take a look at the photos here: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/dmgranger/album?.dir=136d&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/ph//my_photos and share your opinion as to whether the frame can be repaired.

Interestingly, it's not just the dropout that bent. It's the stays too. The drive-side stays are both crimped at the dropout (to allow clearance for freewheel and chain, I assume). The bend is at the end of the crimping. The stays are not split or cracked, as far as I can tell.

Although it looks (and is) VERY dirty, and the chrome is shot, most of the paint and transfers look very good. I'd very much like to salvage it if possible.

So, opinions?

Thanks all,
