What a nice machine and the miserable whatsits won't even ship outside the US! Now who do I know in Texas.....? I can understand the sellers not recognising a 50th gruppo, after all not all cyclists are smitten by Campag, but aluminium, aka aluminum? I think not..I see there is a lot of interest in the auction and I doubt it will go cheep (well it is Easter). My bargain of the Easter hols at a car boot sale (trunk sale?, or flea market?) was a Brooks Competition stamped 1973. Unusual nose made of copper, with the nose leather cut away to show off the shiny copper material and no badge at the rear. ( I know that a cut away nose was often done by owners but this looks an original job) Nice dark brown leather in need of Proofhide, but a bargain at £3 ($5) complete with clamp. I didn't even haggle and it made my day. Disappointed not to learn more from my last post of Hans Ohrt's cycling career. I was told that he was the US Olympic coach so he must have been a competitor before that. The frame/bike that Ray Etherton is selling is superb. If I had the space I would buy it. I don't want to reveal which Ebay ad has the attached because I imagine some of the CR crowd is watching this auction. One of the ebay selling chains currently has a bike up for sale and the following are the attributes of the bike:

Bike is in good condition, but it appears to have stayed in the garage for awhile, so it will need some cleaning and adjusting before use. The brake pads have some life to them, but they will also need adjustment.

* Reynolds 531c Fork Blades, Stays, & Butted Frame Tubes * Campagnolo brakes, cranks/pedals, & derailleurs * Tires: Schwinn 700x25mm * Avocet seat * Rims: Mavic G-40 * Frame Size: 61cm * Standover: 85cm (33-1/2") * Crank: 175mm * Top Tube: 59cm (23-1/4")

Included are wonderful photos of saw dust on the bottom bracket, a flaw on the saddle where a piece of scotch tape must have sat, and some cracked gum rubber hoods.

Probably one of the better ads from this group. The one thing they left out is that the Campy groupo is a 50th anniversary groupo on the bike.

Sheeeesh!
