"Dear listers, I don't want to disappoint but "Our TOM" road a PX10 to many victories as did the very your Monsieur EDDY the only small deatil that you might just have missed is that there frames might not have been made by Peugeot. "

New:

"Might" is the operative word in the above sentence.

I know that there are some out there who think that every professional rides on a custom made frame by some obscure builder with a small shop, who with tubing and a welder is able to endow his frames with some "magic"....but it just isn't so. The average worker (and machine) in the Peugeot factory built a great bike, plain and simple (no pun intended). One great example of that was the discussion on this list (I think) that all of Lemond's Gitanes were made by a certain builder outside Reno, which is patently false. They were run-of-the-mill, production frames produced by a guy in a beret who probably had too much wine and cheese during his socialist-government-mandated afternoon break.

Part of the greatness of the ride is the "mojo" of it all (which has been discussed on this list)...which, in the case of francophiles like myself, includes the "unique" finish.

Call me crazy (and I am sure you will) but I will take my "unique" Gitanes over Masis any day. Actually, I would take the Masis, sell them to list members, and buy the bikes I really wanted (and take them to France to ride the Galibier, etc. with the remainder!).
