I am genuinely confused. Does anyone here know *for sure*--not guessing, not speculating, not wishful-thinking--exactly *what* Tom Simpson and Eddy M. rode in the 60s when they were riding frames decorated as Peugeots?

I thought that both rode frames made by Masi, dressed up like Peugeots. Masi was making frames with the Peugeot-style Nervex lugs at that time, so pictures could be very deceiving, seems to me. You could take a Masi of that time, paint it and dress it like a Peugeot, and it might be rather hard to tell the difference in even a clear photo. I'd be curious to know what details one would look for to try to figure out which was which. Assuming both had Nervex lugs. The Masis with the cinelli-style lugs are easy to spot, that's not my question.

I do know that up close it would have been no contest. Peugeot clearly brazed the lugs up right out of the box. Masi spent a lot of time cleaning up his Nervex lugs before he brazed them. I've owned both bikes (60s PX10 and Nervex Masi), and that much I know for sure. When it comes to workmanship alone, the Nervex Masis are very refined..the PX10s are rough-and-ready.

But that's beside the point...the point is, what did those two guys ride, and when? And no nationalistic speculation please. Does anyone here know, FOR SURE?
